Our honeymoon in South Africa was an absolute DREAM. We spent time in Cape Town, the Winelands, and the stunning Blyde River Canyon. But the highlight, of course, was our safari experience in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. I’m still dreaming about the baby elephant we saw who was still learning how to use his legs, stumbling to keep up with mom, and so curious about the world. Ahead of our trip, we kept telling people how grateful we were to be embarking on this “once in a lifetime” experience. Once we experienced the magic of a safari, we immediately decided this adventure cannot be lived only once! It was truly life changing and we can’t wait to go back with our kids!
We stayed at the incredible Londolizi game reserve after the recommendation by a few close friends. The hospitality, scenery, game drives and guides, food and rooms were unreal – I don’t think a better private reserve exists! It was definitely a honeymoon splurge but we couldn’t recommend Londolozi more. Out of the Big 5, we saw 4 – the lion, leopard, rhino, and elephant (we did see a buffalo skull if that counts!). Plus, we saw handfuls of zebras, impala, giraffes, wildebeest, warthogs and hippos – so many ‘pinch me’ moments as it was so humbling to see these creatures in their expansive, natural environment.
Until next time, Londolozi!
